This post is inspired by a hot topic right now, but I see similar wording all the time:

Theres reports if you actually click on the link it will try connecting your wallet. YOU WILL LOSE IT ALL. If you have already clicked it and havent lost your funds yet I would strongly suggest moving your coins/tokens to another wallet AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

From the trending SHIB Scam post

This is not how crypto wallets and "web3" works. And while I'm sure many are aware of this, I always feel like this scares new people and creates unjustified fears. One example is comments often saying "I'm not going to click that link" when an unknown link is posted.

You can not lose your crypto when clicking a link or even connecting your wallet to a malicious website.

Connecting a wallet does only allow the site to read your public address and initiate transactions. Only if you SIGN a transaction your crypto can be stolen (for example a transfer or smart contract approval). In almost all wallets (like Metamask) this opens a new window and require you to very obviously sign a transaction, this can be easily distinguished from all other website interaction.

I'm not saying to be less careful - you should not visit obvious scam websites or connect your wallet with no reason. But an important factor about being secure when using crypto is to know how things actually work. And this also can give you the confidence to know when you have or not have to wipe your wallet. In the above example (just clicking) it is not necessary.
