Hello everyone! I've recently seen some initial reviews of the new Apple VR visor and I began to wonder how the main crypto metaverse projects are holding on these days.

I remember that, back in 2021, Facebook changed its name to Meta and invested heavily in virtual/augmented reality, promising that the metaverse was actually becoming a fact. Metaverse tokens (The Sandbox and Decentraland were the main projects) consequentially skyrocketed and many thought that the future of gaming was actually pretty near.

In November 2021, The Sandbox went from 600M $ of market cap to over 6 Billion $ in two weeks, while Decentraland even reached a market cap of 9 Billion $.

Both metaverses back then were in their early early stages and you couldn't do much else besides buying lands and creating an avatar. Nowadays something has changed: The Sandbox, in particular, seems to have become a valid alternative to Minecraft, with very similar graphics and playing styles. I still prefer other normal console games, but at least now you can actually do stuff.

Decentraland seems behind in development, as there are fewer things to do and interacting with it feels more cumbersome.

Despite some progress in the games and some huge partnerships, data on average users aren't very comforting: according to many sources, both Decentraland and The Sandobox only host around 8000 users a month.

The market cap of SAND and MANA is 1/10 of its all-time high and I don't even want to talk about how the tokens' price dropped.

I think that we won't fully appreciate these projects until VR visors become massively adopted and that can even take 10 years in my opinion.

Have you tried these metaverses? What is your experience?
