For God's sake, take some profits

Took some profits today to make a purchase I wanted (NOT a need). Man, did it feel good.

Like most of us here, I will never be wealthy. That's not a matter of opinion, but a fact of the world we live in. I might get incredibly lucky, but my career allows us to make ends meet comfortably and have a little bit of fun while the kids are still young and that's about it.

I've been holding since 2020 or 2021 and, for the first time ever, my portfolio did about 6x in the last couple weeks. I was incredibly happy with that and continuously showed my wife how well we were doing. It's hard to watch money vanish in the bear market, but I PROMISE you that it's harder to sell your holdings when it's possible to make even more money. None of it is easy, and all of it is stressful.

I sold about 10% of my position for a one-of-a-kind purchase that wouldn't ever come around again, and a huge weight has been lifted. I get to keep my portfolio, I get new toys, and I still get to watch the remaining 90% grow.

Take some profits. Treat yo' self. There will be more dips, there will be another bear, there will be a pullback. Nobody knows when, but there is plenty of time to rebuild your position. I guarantee you'll feel better, and even if you don't need or want to make a purchase, keeping the little bit of extra cash will make you feel more secure.
