Last year, when sentiment was not so positive towards crypto.com, a disgruntled card holder set fire to his Ruby Red visa card (video link below)

With all the recent positive developments with crypto.com and the euphoria among CRO holders at the rise in the price of the CRO token, I'd like to take you back a little over one year to when sentiment towards crypto.com was not quite so positive, so much so that a Ruby Red card holder poured petrol on their card and set fire to it. So, why were some people so angry at the time? Firstly, after buying MCO (now CRO) to stake for the cards, some people had been waiting months (even years for the really early investors) for their MCO card to finally be issued. There was no warning about this when you paid to stake. Imagine paying a few thousand dollars for a card that doesn't show up. The "7 to 14 days" until the cards will be issued became a meme in the crypto.com sub, as those days turned into months. Then there was a lot of (justified in my opinion) bitterness about the MCO to CRO token swap. This took place overnight during what we were told was simply a "system maintenance", days after Kris had promised not to abandon the MCO token in an AMA. I actually did quite well off of this swap, but at the time it did make me seriously question how trustworthy they are, and a reminder of the potential risks involved when investing in a centralised cryptocurrency. The post that the card burning video was taken from has since been deleted, but I believe the card burning event happened after Wirecard- who were the card issuers for crypto.com customers in the UK and Europe- ceased operations, making the visa cards that people had waited so long for temporarily unusable. This wasn't really crypto.com's fault, but I guess that was the straw that broke the camel's back for this user. 1 year later and everything is looking rosy again. I've been a Jade Green card holder since March 2020 and am very happy with my card, but thought I'd share this classic moment for those who weren't around at a time when many people were calling crypto.com a scam.
