Please take time to learn proper OPSEC.

I still see so many people making noob mistakes. I mean we are at peak apathy in the markets so I assume mostly everyone here is a native. But I still keep seeing posts about poor OPSEC and basic cybersecurity missteps.

Scammers aren’t that incredibly sophisticated with their attacks and usually target the low hanging fruit of you not double checking links or what you’re signing. And if you’re really not wise, clicking on those fake DMs or ads saying there is free crypto or airdrops waiting for you.

I feel like many should be familiar with the dangers out here.

But please use a cold and hot setup where the bulk of your usable funds stay on a cold wallet that you never connect to a smart contract and you have it linked together with a hot wallet on MetaMask or the like that you keep a small amount of funds on for all your regular smart contract interactions. In case of a malicious smart contract you only lose a small portion of your assets.

And if you have sizable money then it’s stored on a multi-sig wallet with multiple cold wallets as signers.

I get this ecosystem isn’t user friendly right now. But it’s probably going to stay like this for a while since governments aren’t too fond of Defi and won’t pass comprehensive regulations anytime soon unless it’s the blanket ban variety.

We’re living in the Wild West. You have got to learn how to protect yourself if you are going to be out here on the frontier.

I get mistakes happen. I’ve lost money too, but try not to make the fatal ones like keeping large sums of money you can’t afford to lose in a hot wallet that you regularly connect to smart contracts.
