The Sandbox & CFDA Partnership

The Sandbox and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) have come together to shine a spotlight on innovative gamified fashion. Through The Sandbox metaverse, which already has a firmly established presence within the European fashion industry, CFDA wants to provide an audience with fun, imaginative experiences with compelling creative story-telling, while also providing some education.

The CFDA is making a statement that gamified experiences and gaming worlds like The Sandbox are going to become an integral part of fashion, transforming the way it is expressed both virtually and in the physical world.

Having worked with a host of European fashion and lifestyle brands such as Gucci and L’Officiel, the partnership with CFDA is a chance for The Sandbox to make its permanent mark in the American fashion community as well. Many European luxury brands have entered Web3, and we are thrilled to see some of the biggest names in American fashion also coming together to build the future of fashion in the metaverse.

A unique exhibit and game experience from CFDA will take place in The Sandbox and take players through an iconic American fashion journey, retracing a legacy spanning the last 60 years. A big part of the goal is also to educate and inspire designers and creators on the possibilities that exist within this ecosystem.

The Metaverse Experience

Players are invited to explore the CFDA exhibition in The Sandbox and celebrate the creativity of the past, present, and future CFDA members. The exhibition will be open from December 19th 2022, until January 19th 2023.

Players will have a chance to meet Steven Kolb — The CEO of CFDA — clad in Thom Browne label fashion in metaverse avatar form. This exhibition is curated by Darnell-Jamal Lisby, a fashion historian and assistant curator of fashion at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

The metaverse experience is organised into five different themes: Illuminating a Fantasy, Illuminating Romance, Illuminating the Avant-Garde, Illuminating Understanding, and Illuminating Soul. Completing the quest

This metaverse fashion exhibition will also foster inclusivity by allowing fashion fans and enthusiasts who would otherwise not have access to exhibits and curations to access it from wherever they are in the world. The experience and partnership also presents an opportunity for Web3 audiences and younger audiences, such as aspiring fashion designers and enthusiasts, to learn more about fashion and its history.
