TIFU, but didn’t. Coinbase Pro (warning)

It’s tax season obviously, so like a small percentage of us degenerates I actually DON’T want the IRS sending me a letter in 3 months claiming I owe them more dirty fiat. So I accurately reported my crypto gains and Losses with my tax software.

I use Coinbase for purchases and sells and a lot of Coinbase card purchases and rewards in 2022. (Almost 5000 transactions ????????‍♂️) but I was missing a piece of the puzzle. Transactions I made on Coinbase Pro before Advanced trading was made available on the regular platform. I would load FIAT to Coinbase, transfer to Coinbase Pro, then transfer my crypto back to Coinbase (don’t worry, it’s all in cold storage). So ALL these Pro transactions where missing.

So I typed in my browser “Coinbase pro.com” was taken to a legit looking website with a login box. I typed in my email and password and was taken to the next window asking me to provide more credentials. This is when I realized that I actually typed in the wrong email address because I misspelled a letter because I’m ghetto and spell words purposely wrong (refer to my Reddit screen name).

I hit back on the browser and it started loading weird urls and then went to alibaba website. Hit a huge panic. Logged into real Coinbase, and changed my password even though they didn’t have the right credentials out of pure fear, even though they didn’t have my accurate login info.

I Went to google and found the real CBP address is pro.Coinbase.com and was able to fix my taxes up and luckily avoided a huge accident.

TLDR - a fake Coinbase pro phishing website is setup as Coinbasepro.com and the real website is pro.Coinbase.com. If your filing your taxes last minute like me don’t fall for this.
